Cancer is on track to become the leading cause of death in the EU by 2035. To turn the tide against cancer, the European Commission launched Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan on the eve of World Cancer Day, February 3, 2021.
On January 1, 2021, the European Union launched its new Research and Innovation Framework Programme, Horizon Europe. The programme, which replaces Horizon 2020, has a budget of €95.5 billion and is set to run for seven years, from 2021 to 2027.
On the way towards a successor programme to EDCTP2 under the umbrella of the next European Framework programme for research and innovation, Horizon Europe (2021-2027), the European Commission published an outline of its plan for the next EDCTP programme on 30 July 2019.
