RealWorld4Clinic

The goal of RealWorld4Clinic is to develop MyHeartSentinel, an AI-powered health monitoring solution, which can be applied both in clinical research and in cardiological patient care. This new device will continuously measure a wide array of cardio-respiratory health parameters in clinical trial volunteers and patients in their normal everyday environment.

The data that this device will provide will be passed on to healthcare personnel and allow insights into important biomarkers almost in real-time. This could be lifesaving for many patients that suffer from heart failure. The data will help detect early warning signs of an upcoming heart failure decompensation up to 30 days before the catastrophic event occurs, ensuring that preventative measures can be taken well in advance in the vast majority of cases.

RealWorld4Clinic could halve the rate of emergency hospitalisation and significantly reduce the number of ambulatory visits. In addition, data collected by the device could strongly support early decision making in clinical development programs and improve the predictive power of clinical trials by up to 50%.

How LINQ Supports RealWorld4Clinic

  • . Project & Stakeholder Management
  • . Dissemination & Communication

Close-to-market collaboration between clinics, academia and industry

RealWorld4Clinic is one of the projects in the LINQ portfolio that is close-to-market. One of the main goals of this French-German initiative is to prepare for a successful CE Mark application for the MyHeartSentinel device by the end of the project. To meet this ambitious timeline, partners from very different backgrounds have to work closely together. End-users of the product, i.e. clinicians and patients, must be involved in every step along the development process to optimally prepare a timely clinical adoption of the solution. To that end, LINQ and the Activity Lead, Freimut Schliess, set up tailored project management structures that help contributing partners align their efforts through focussed working groups.

To closely engage key players from outside of the consortium and foster co-creation on different levels, LINQ strongly supports the planning and implementation of three stakeholder workshops with patients, cardiologists, and representatives from the healthcare industry.

In the hands of EIT Health experts

As an industry-driven funder and one of the newest funding agencies in Europe, EIT Health is dynamic and adjusts quickly to market needs. In contrast to most other funders, the EIT Health programme is organised in annual Business Plans, which leads to a very specific set of rules and regulations and requires different management support measures.

The RealWorld4Clinic consortium, however, is in experienced hands: Claudia Schacht, LINQ’s Managing Director, has successfully supported EIT Health projects in every round of calls for proposals since the inception of the programme in 2015. In addition, Freimut Schliess is an EIT Health veteran himself: He coordinated one of the first EIT Health projects and has been continuously involved in ongoing initiatives since. Our combined in-depth knowledge of the funder helps us navigate RealWorld4Clinic’s consortium through EIT Health’s requirements and enables us to implement the project successfully.

In the hands of EIT Health experts
LINQ has actively helped us structure, shape, and successfully defend our proposal. Their professional management and valuable insights are now helping us transform our vision into a successful EIT Health project, in which we plan to bring our point-of-care device all the way to CE-marking. Having such an experienced team by our side has proven immensely helpful, especially during the COVID-19 crisis. Dr Thibault Parmentier
